A Ring That Finally Felt Like Me

From Searching for the Perfect Ring to Creating One Together

A little over a year ago, I found a beautiful ring on the StarlandUS website that I absolutely loved — but it ended up being outside of our budget. I’m also incredibly picky when it comes to jewelry, especially rings. I could point out little details I liked from different designs, but I couldn’t find a single piece that truly felt like “me.”

So my partner reached out to a StarlandUS representative, Jimmy, and together they began designing a custom ring just for me. I wanted the proposal to be a complete surprise, so I never saw the ring until the moment he proposed. Honestly, I couldn’t have designed it better myself. The shape, the gemstone, the sparkle — everything was perfect. 🖤

A Love Story That Started with a Hike

We actually met while working at the same restaurant — he was my boss. 😅 One day, I finally worked up the courage to ask if he wanted to go on a hike with me sometime.

After the hike, while he was driving me home, I told him how cute I thought he was. Apparently, he didn’t expect that at all because he completely froze when I said it. He suffers from what I lovingly call “chronic awkwardness,” but somehow it all worked out perfectly.

More than three years later, we’re now engaged. 🥰

Beneath the Cherry Blossoms in Osaka

When the time finally came, he proposed to me beneath the cherry blossom trees in Osaka, Japan. 🥹🖤

It felt unreal — the perfect moment, the perfect place, and the perfect ring waiting for me at the center of it all.

Funny enough, our story with StarlandUS started from a simple Google search for “goth engagement rings.” We never imagined it would lead us here — to a custom piece that feels so deeply personal and a memory we’ll treasure forever.
